After regular hair wash the minerals dissolved in the hard water forms a scaly film on your hair. This prevents the amount of moisture from entering the hair folicles. Hardwater also forms a sort of dandruff like condition that may even lead to permanent hair loss. While there are no particular health hazards, hard water can cause many issues such as hair and skin problems.
1. Vinegar
Vinegar is acidic and this property removes the scaly build up from your hair. Mix 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 3 cups of water. After shampooing, massage this mixture on to your hair. Leave it for couple of minutes and rinse it off. Vinegar rinse also increases shine and gives body to limp hair. Use it once a week, as every day use will make your hair dry.
2. Lemon
Fresh lemon and lime juice proves to be very good and effective for those who have got oily hair. Apply this to your scalp and hair after shampooing, and let it be there for about a couple of minutes. Along with giving extra shine and lusture to your hair, the antiseptic properties of lemon helps remove dandruff from your scalp and hair.
3. Coconut/Almond oil
Always make sure that you apply some oil such as coconut oil or almond oil. This has the ability to lock moisture in your hair and makes it look more glossy and greasy.
4. Rainwater
Rainwater is a good substitute to hard water when washing your hair. Place a large bucket outside during rainfalls, collecting as much of the liquid as possible.
