Addictions are vivid and friends and family happens to be the first to detect addictions. People who are addicted or are prone to addictions do not bear any control over what they are doing, taking or using. Their addiction might come to point that could prove to be harmful and at times very fatal too.
Addictions do not only include physical things we consume, such as drugs or alcohol, but may include virtually anything, such abstract things as gambling to seemingly harmless products, such as chocolate-in other words, addiction may refer to a substance dependence.
Forceful Intervention:
Often it happens that, even after an intervention, the person who is suffering from an addiction, will not agree to seek help at a rehab or even see a counselor. At such times, force might be needed. Eminent doctors from their experiences have seen that counseling and treating patients since the last 10 years claim that force is often required to help the more obstinate patients."Addicts can be very obstinate. When we tell them that they need to seek help at a rehab, they will not agree to it on any condition. The reason for this is because they are scared of withdrawal and the fact that their favorite thing is being taken away from them."
Most times, a family member tells them that they are going to a picnic, or to see a friend, and are brought to the rehabilitation center, where trained counselors take over and make the patient understand. During this period, they need to be given full support of friends and family members are to be handled with a mix of force and logic.
