India has followed the line of many countries to open its first " Technology De-addiction clinic", that too at country's premier Mental Health Hospital , Bangalore .Reports says, countries like South Korea,China,Taiwan and Singapore has also opened Technology De-addiction clinics in an effort to ween citizen from smartphones and computers.
Doctors of Nimhans (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences ) says that most of the cases reported are children, whose parents are very much concerned for their children steady decline in child's academics and interactions with the family.Parents often find that their children are spending far too much time on smartphones and Internet, which on the other hand causes anxiety, loneliness and boredom when parents deny the usage of the device.
Even though the symptoms vary from persons to person, but the excessive engagement with the smartphones , internet, social networking will make individuals mental well being at stake.Even though all these sound weird, a recent case reports that a 13 year old hanged herself for asking her to delete the Facebook account. Now this report may not sound excessive, to say that Technology Addiction is something to think on.
