From the past 50 years,the clinical cases reported for Dengue fever is getting increased by 30 times. Each year 390 million people are getting infected due to dengue fever, of which 96 million are proved to have clinical symptoms of dengue fever.

To this time there is no licensed vaccines or proven specific treatments for dengue infections.Dengue fever is caused by four serotypes of dengue virus.So the vaccine developed must be capable of targeting all four dengue viruses.

The new vaccine named as CTD-TDV vaccine was only 30% successful in the first trial. But the new phase of the vaccine proved to be 56.5 % efficient overall. The vaccine was also reported to be 88.5 % efficient against most severe version of the dengue virus, dengue hemorrhagic fever.
