An interesting life situation is the matter of discussion in Health circles now. By 2020, for the first time in history, the number of people aged 60 years and older will outnumber children younger than 5 years. The number of older people who are no longer able to look after themselves in developing countries is forecast to quadruple by 2050. By then, the world’s population aged 60 years and older is expected to total 2 billion, up from 841 million today.  80% of these older people will be living in low-income and middle-income countries. The reason for this phenomenon , is mainly the decline in deaths from cardiovascular disease , cost-effective strategies to reduce tobacco use and high blood pressure, and improved coverage and effectiveness of health interventions. But there is no guarantee that the older community will provide a healthy society. Both physical and mental ailments will make essential long-term care for the aged.Health experts urge the need for new health and social strategies for their care, which includes change in policies to encourage older adults to remain as part of work force for longer .Efforts are needed to make the coming decades older, healthier, productive and happier.

CEO Jeffrey Marrazzo said in a statement" that, they count forward to work closely with FDA to facilitate the review of SPK-RPE65,  to bring this potentially transformative treatment to patients with genetic blinding conditions."
