Marijuana , also known by the name Cannabis is a psychoactive drug and also used as an medicine. Marijuana has got an active component called as THC,tetrahydracannabol which is said to have anti cancer properties.THC was found to be responding to a specific family of cell receptors called as cannabinoid receptors.

When THC was tested in mice with humans, it was found that ,THC induced the death of brain cancer cells in a process known as "autophagy". When Autophagy process was carried out, it was found that growth of tumor was decreasing.two of the human patients who had aggresive tumors were treated by intracranial administration of THC also showed decrease in tumour.
