1. Oily fish:
Omega-3 fatty acids help to increase HDL(good) cholestrol, improve the blood vessel elasticity and thin the blood. Tuna, salmon and sardines are varieties that protect your heart. Try and consume them at least once.
2. Fruits and Vegetables:
A host of antioxidants in fruits and vegetables help curb the free radical damage, which increases inflammation of the walls of the heart.
3. Oats:
They are fibre-rich superfoods that are loaded with Omega-3, folate and potassium- all these lowers LDL cholesterol levels and keeps your arteries clear of blokages.
4. Nuts:
Walnuts and almonds are full of Omega-3 fatty acids, fibre and have a healthy mix of poly and mono-saturated fats and aid the heart in proper functioning.
5. Berries:
Blueberries, strawberries etc are considered as anti-inflammatory foods. Make sure you add them to your meal or snack.
6. Flaxseeds:
Rich in fibre, omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, flaxseeds can be best friends to your heart. Sprinkle them on your salads in order to make it more healthy.
7. Garlic:
garlic improves your iron metabolism keeps blood pressure in check. So try to consume 1 garlic glove on a daily basis as an added defense mechanism.
